In Germany, there are meeting places, where nude joggers meet for sports in community. The website

mentions meeting places in Germany near Cologne, Berlin, Frankfurt, and Mannheim / Heidelberg – however, the website has not been updated since 2009. Currently (autumn 2018), naturists run (quite regularly) weekly on Wednesdays at 17:15 o'clock from the meeting place a distance up to 10 km in the Berliner Grunewald. Runners. Yeah, we're different!

Nudic walking

The relatively young sport of nordic walking is a swinging, sporty walking with the support of poles. Of course, many naturists are followers of this popular way of keeping fit, and just as with any sport, you ask yourself, which clothes you should wear. So, the nudic walking [= nude nordic walking] was the natural answer – just nordic walking without the ballast of clothes.

Others see immediately, that a walker, like a jogger, is nude because of her / his sporting activity. This is why nudic walkers and nude joggers experience even less frequent conjectures about the motivation of their nudity than hikers – especially when doing it alone. But, of course, nudic walking makes much more fun in a group than alone!

But walking is just a much sportier way of hiking, and while you can hike easyly for 6 hours, as a walker or even as a jogger, you will have got the personal quota after 1 to 1½ hours. For this reason, there might be more local nudic walking events as whole-day events like nude hikes.

Nevertheless, Günther had initiated a nudic walking event for the first time in the Wahner Heide [en: Wahn Heath] (south-east of Cologne, Germany) for 4 May 2013. It was quite challenging (12 km in 2 hours), but a very positive experience!

Compared with nude hiking, the nudic walking offers some advantages inter alia because of the shorter duration of the nudevent:

  • you do not have to carry provisions
  • you need less sunscreen
  • you do not have to expect a change in the weather pattern at short notice
  • you are working out a lot more groups of muscles

The prerequisite for the success is, however, that the technique is mastered. Nudic walking looks easy (and it is), but the details of the movement are the secret of success. Numerous nordic walking groups can be watched, who trail their poles tiredly behind them and scuff their feet along the dirt roads at a slow walk speed. "Avoiding any effort" seems to be their leitmotiv. But no training effect is achieved without physical exertion! A pity, because in no other sport is the success so comparatively simple and inexpensive to achieve! And promoted by the health insurance companies.
